Special interest topics also include partisan politics, gender issues, and other topics defined with your input.

Summer Camp 2009

Summary

For Children and Jr. Youth Ages 9 - 15

Each week's program examined some of the spiritual requirements of a just, united and sustainable global civilization. Our responsibilities as individuals, family and community members in building unity will also be examined.

Saturday Morning Arts Finale
The Saturday Morning Arts Finale was a showcase of the week's learning and was a camp highlight that all parents were encouraged to attend. 

Barbecue Lunch
Families were invited to stay for a Barbecue Lunch on the Saturday immediately after the Arts Event. 

All campers were encouraged to bring their musical instruments, as there will be a band program if there are enough instrumental musicians.

Summary

The Spring School will provide an opportunity for the Baha’is to foster the spirit of fellowship in a distinctly Baha’i atmosphere while sharing ideas.

This year’s program will be focused on celebrating the Declaration of the Bab and providing Teacher Training seminars and workshops in English and Farsi.

There will be a children program in place for the ages of 4 to 12. Older children are welcome and encouraged to participate in the regular program.

The aim is to leave with better understanding of our own contributions to the Five Year Plan for the advancement of the world toward its promised glorious future.

Winter School at SLBC is always a unique experience filled with a variety of fun family activities. The program will include children's and junior youth programs. Youth will participate in the adult program.

Thousands of Bahá'ís around the world have demonstrated in both tangible and intangible ways the power of the Revelation of Bahá'u'lláh in action. As citizens who are anxiously concerned with the needs of the age they live in, Bahá'ís everywhere are playing an active role in building the foundation of a peaceful global society. In this program, we will learn more about these endeavors and share some of the initiatives of theCanadian Bahá'í International Development Agency (CBIDA) and how it has worked with its partners around the world. Much time and attention will be given at the session to studying the Writings of the Bahá'í Faith on Development.

Winter school at SLBC is always a unique experience with varied recreation and family activities designed for an enjoyable winter retreat! The focus this year on "Marriage and Family Life" will include topics such as:

• Qualities to consider when looking for our future spouse and partner in the eternal union of marriage
• How to investigate the character of our future partner and how to communicate
• How to maintain our marriage and family life so it is healthy and on the right path
• How to raise children and what are the important things to teach them
• Financial issues and money matters in marriage
• How to prepare for family life
• Bahá’í perspective on union of the two and family life
• Physical and psychological health in a "Marriage and Family Life"
• PLUS: Arts and Crafts classes on:

The Five Year Plan

This course will place special emphasis on goals specific to Canada based on the Ridván Message from the Universal House of Justice. Related material will be drawn from other Bahá'í sources, including Shoghi Effendi's Advent of Divine Justice, with reference to 'Abdu'l-Bahá's Tablets of the Divine Plan. The course will be interactive with ample opportunity for everyone to discuss and consider the implications, as they relate both to communities and individuals.

Allison Healy will revisit themes from Books 1, 2 and 6, along with related excerpts from the guidance. Participants will support each other to practice the component skills and service outcomes from these books. In collaboration with the Area Coordinator for cluster 13, the participants will engage in home visits and teaching opportunities in the communities of this cluster.

A children and Jr. Youth program will be provided.

One the evening of 9th August, International Day of World's Indigenous People will be celebrated with a special program.
